Hi. Welcome to Comforting Anxious Children, a site devoted to helping anxious children find peace for mind, body and spirit.
Like many of you, I’ve struggled with anxiety, and so have my children, and the students in my classroom.
When I was teaching in a primary grade classroom, the greatest challenge facing most of my students was anxiety.
Students were anxious about tests, about challenges in their home life, about scary things in the news; some children were anxious most of the time, but they didn’t know why.
I earned a Master’s Degree in special education and have taught students with special needs from preschool through adult. I have worked as an advocate for children and adults with disabilities to help them secure services, modifications and accommodations to meet their needs.
I created this website to share the latest research, strategies and resources to calm and comfort anxious children, mind, body and spirit.
When I’m not writing you’ll find me outside with my husband, kids and our three dogs.
I love dogs and would have one of every breed if I could. My daughter and I dream of buying a huge farm and turning it into a huge rescue shelter for all animals, big and small.
I live south of Cleveland in the beautiful state of Ohio. It’s a wonderful place to call home.
Three things that describe me: I love writing, peppermint tea and Snoopy! He’s a writer too!
Please keep in touch.
I love hearing from my readers and answer every email.
Please let me know what you’d like to see addressed on the site, what questions you have, and any tips you have for comforting an anxious child.
